Boyle Abbey BOYLE ABBEY, Comté de ROSCOMMON, est un impressionnant et bien préservé monastère Cistercien qui a été fondé au 12ème siècle sous les auspices de la famille dirigeante locale, les MacDermotts. Quoique mutilé pendant les 17-18ème siècles, durant lesquels il a été utilisé pour accueillir une garnison militaire, l'Abbaye de Boyle conserve néanmoins sa capacité d'impressionner le visiteur comme une du plus formidable premières fondations Cisterciennes en Irlande. BOYLE ABBEY, CO. ROSCOMMON is an impressive and well preserved Cistercian Monasterv which was founded in the 12th century under the patronage of the local ruling family, the MacDermotts. Though mutilated during the 17th and l8th centuries when it was used to accommodate a military garrison, Boyle Abbey nevertheless retains its ability to impress the visitor as one of the most formidable of the early Cistercian foundations in Ireland. ---------------------------------------------- Parc de la forêt "Lough Key", Comté de Roscommon, est agréablement située près de Boyle avec ses rivages magnifiquement boisés, le littoral déchiré et beaucoup de charmantes îles sortant des eaux bleues. Sur une des îles, ont trouv les restes des ruines de l'Abbaye de la Trinité, fondée avec les Canons Blancs. Ici ont été compilé les Annales de Loch Cé qui sont maintenant préservées dans la bibliothèque de Collège de Trinité à Dublin. Lough Key Forest Park, Co. Roscommon, is pleasantly situated near Boyle with its magnificently wooded shores, indented coastline and many lovely islands rising from the blue waters. On one of the the islands, are the ruined remains of the Abbey of the Trinity, founded with the White Canons. Here were compiled the Annals of Loch Cé which are now preserved in the library of Trinity College, Dublin.
